AN Essequibo Defense Commission began internal restructuring

The Special Commission for the Defense of the Guayana Essequibo Territory and the Territorial Sovereignty of the National Assembly (AN), chaired by deputy Hermann Escarrá, held the first meeting for the reorganization of its internal structure.

This was reported by deputy William Fariñas, from the library Luis Beltran Prieto Figueroa of the Federal Legislative Palace, where he explained that the restructuring seeks to defend in a more profound way the area under claim.

The assembly member added that the subcommittee responsible for the changes evaluated the agenda to be addressed in the coming months, since they hope to present a preliminary report to the Board of Directors of the National Assembly (AN), according to a press release from the Venezuelan parliament.

Meanwhile, the deputy of the Opposition Parliamentary Bloc, deputy José Gregorio Correa, indicated that the function of the subcommittee is in the process of being updated, to adapt it to the times and make it effective.

He reiterated that the Essequibo is from Venezuela, and in this sense, he asserted that the parliamentary body in charge will be doing all the pertinent steps to definitively join the country.
