Authorities are investigating possible carbon monoxide poisoning as the cause of death.
News Colombia.
The death of four members of the same family in the municipality of Facatativá, Cundinamarca, has generated consternation among the inhabitants of the area. According to the first hypotheses of the authorities, the tragedy would be related to carbon monoxide poisoning, although the exact causes are still a matter of investigation.

The discovery occurred when neighbors alerted the authorities when they noticed that none of the occupants of the house responded to the calls. Upon entering the property, the relief agencies found the four people without vital signs, without visible evidence of violence, which led them to initially rule out a criminal act.
According to preliminary information, the family would be of Venezuelan origin, and had resided in the sector for some time. The victims would have been exposed for a long time to toxic gases, presumably generated by a heating system, a stove or some device that operated with combustion in a space with poor ventilation.
Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless and highly dangerous gas, capable of causing death within minutes if inhaled in high concentrations. The authorities reiterated that this type of poisoning usually goes unnoticed, since it does not present obvious signs until the effects are already serious.
Officials from the Police and the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) carried out the technical inspection of the bodies and collected evidence in the home, while Legal Medicine will be in charge of confirming, through autopsies, whether the inhalation of this gas was indeed the cause of death.
Meanwhile, local authorities called on citizens to periodically check the gas and ventilation systems in homes, especially during cold seasons. The tragedy in Facatativá once again raises alarm bells about the silent risks of carbon monoxide and the importance of prevention to avoid new human losses.
