The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, as the first act of his new period at the head of the Legislative Branch, sent Nicolás Maduro the invitation to come on January 10 to be sworn in again as Head of State.
During the installation ceremony of the 2025-2026 legislative period, Rodríguez highlighted that the call for the President is at 12 noon at the Federal Legislative Palace headquarters.
In this sense, he highlighted that the seat of parliament is the only place established by our constitution so that the President can be sworn in to hold office.
“The people elected Nicolás Maduro as constitutional President in the July 28 election. The only body with the capacity to proclaim popularly elected positions in Venezuela is the National Electoral Council and it proclaimed Nicolás Maduro, not the psychopathic president of other countries in the world, not institutions that only obey the dollar or decadent media,” he stressed.
Election year
On the other hand, the president of Parliament pointed out that this Public Power places itself at the command of the President of the Republic to carry out the necessary studies and discussions that allow progress in the proposal to reform the constitution that he made in recent days.
“This year the president has proposed a constitutional reform. From here we are waiting for the drawing of that proposal and we make available the National Assembly, which is the political space par excellence of the Republic, to accompany the elaboration, together with the people, of proposals so that this constitutional reform leads to an option that it be endorsed and defended by the great majority of the people,” he highlighted.
Likewise, he recalled that this 2025 in the country there will be elections to choose new deputies, while ensuring that “we do not believe in deputies for life.”
“We do not hold hereditary positions or eternal positions or lifetime positions, we believe in democracy and we believe in the vote of the People and we believe in the free expression of the People of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” he stated.
Likewise, he thanked all the parliamentarians for all their effort, dedication and constant work to advance the recovery and reconstruction of the Legislative Branch in Venezuela.
Likewise, he congratulated the effort that has also been made by the opposition bench who “have made their efforts to accompany the process of reconstruction, reconstitution and also to look to the future, because the steps we have taken to accompany a process have been important. of peace, a process of democratic opening, a process of searching, defeating aggressions, defeating blockades, defeating sanctions, of searching and achieving the prosperity that we Venezuelans deserve.”
