An increase of 274,415 passengers more than last year registered the Tocumen International Airport during the month of November 2022 with a total of 1,364,188 travelers.
The air terminal highlighted that the average number of passengers that transit daily between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the Tocumen International Airport is 44 thousand travelers, in 19 commercial airlines to more than 80 international routes in America and Europe.
Raffoul Arab, General Manager of Tocumen International Airport, indicated that the foundations of the recovery were consolidated in November, so by 2023 they are focused on growth with direct flights Panama – Istanbul from Turkish Airlines, the return of Air Canada, regular flights connecting several Canadian cities with the Río Hato Terminal and the new Wingo routes from Panama Pacifico.
This solid trend in the number of passengers transiting through Tocumen reflects the dynamism of the industry in Latin America and the Caribbean, evidencing the important role of Panama’s geostrategic position as the most important point of air connections in the region,” said Arab.
He highlighted that South America leads the highest passenger traffic to and from the Tocumen International Airport with 45%, followed by North America with 28%, the Caribbean region accounts for 11%, while Central America contributed 11% and Europe the 5%.
In addition, in terms of aircraft operations, 11,115 landing and takeoff maneuvers were registered in November, that is, 1,678 additional operations, compared to November 2021.
For their part, the regional terminals under the administration of Tocumen SA closed the month of November with a total of 52,696 passengers.
Tocumen statistics reveal that from January to November 2022, the total passengers transported through the Tocumen International Airport were 14,330,595; figure that represents 6,363,453 million more than in the same period last year.
