Argentinian artisanal burger joint La Birra Bar won the People’s Choice Award for Best Burger in the United States 2022 at The Food Network’s South Beach Wine and Food Festival.
The company emerged in the Buenos Aires neighborhood Boedo took the prize voted by the people who attend the eventone of the most important restaurants in the United States, with its Golden hamburger.
“Six months ago we came to the United States to show how we could treat this American icon in a different way, with our stamp,” said Daniel Cocchia, one of the creators of La Birra Bar.
“We didn’t think recognition would come so quickly, but we were sure it was a matter of time,” added Cocchia, who is leading the project with his family.
La Birra Bar was created in 2001 as a cafeteria proposal in Boedo; and, in 2014, they developed their own meat medallion, from different cuts of beef, and later bread.
La Birra Bar opened its first location in Miami -at 14831 Biscayne Blvd, in the North Miami Beach area, Florida- in August 2021 and plans to open new stores in Spain and Portugal in April 2022.
The South Beach Wine and Food Festival is a benefit event for Florida International University (FIU) students who have been volunteering for more than 20 years and which brings together more than 65,000 people.
