The National Assembly (AN) approved this Wednesday, February 25, the Venezuelan Red Cross Law, a legal instrument that, according to the ruling majority Parliament, has the purpose of regulating, protecting and strengthening the humanitarian work of the institution in the country.
The standard consists of 28 articles distributed in seven chapters. Its fundamental objective is to define the Red Cross as a “Moral Body of Public Law with a special character.”
National and international authorities of the institution were present during the debate.
In this regard, the president of Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, asserted that the approval of this instrument represents “recognition of the work carried out by the Venezuelan Red Cross to protect those who, silently and often without recognition, help those who suffer.”
