AN approves extension to expand report on Trump's confessions

The National Assembly (AN) in its ordinary session this Thursday approved a 30-day extension to the Special Commission Investigating the Scope and Accountability of Donald’s Confessions Trump against Venezuela, to continue advancing in the investigations carried out for the crimes committed after the confessions of the former president.

The extension was requested by Deputy Pedro Infante, First Vice President of Parliament and in charge of directing the Commission, with the purpose of making the investigations more useful.

After submitting the request to the consideration of the deputies present, the 30-day extension was approved, which will allow the Commission to advance in the investigation.

Minutes before the approval, the first Vice President of the AN, deputy Pedro Infante, asked for the floor to offer an assessment of the Special Commission that Investigates the Scope and Responsibilities of Donald Trump’s Confessions against Venezuela.

In this regard, he explained that “we have worked on the theoretical background of how imperialism has been establishing mechanisms for the domination of our people, such as the Monroe Doctrine, among others,” he said.

He added that “the chronology of the aggressions of the empire against the Venezuelan people has also been worked on.

“We have been carrying out continuous attacks for nine years, and it was recorded in the speech recently made by former president Donald Trump,” he stated, recalling that “there have been 930 unilateral coercive measures, from 2017 to 2023 direct actions against the oil industry.”

He also pointed out that in the investigation 24 agreements, three laws and six administrative acts of charges in the oil companies have been evaluated.

“We have requested the minutes of the sessions, list of attendance, among other documents. Everyone is responsible for these events,” said Infante.

When arguing part of the investigations, the deputy Pedro Infante indicated that they have established crimes among them are:

  • Violation of the integrity of the territory and national self-determination
  • Non-compliance with the norms of the Constitution of the Republic is violated
  • Treason was committed
  • usurpation of functions
  • Organized crime, criminal association, terrorism, financing to the same
  • Violation of the law of the country’s assets abroad was committed, a recently approved law
  • At the international level, the Rome Statute, the United Nations Charter, acts of aggression against peace, violation of the Vienna Convention, the Convention against the recruitment of mercenaries, were violated. “Investigations are beginning to reveal culprits,” said Infante.

The first vice president of the AN, Pedro Infante, reported that after the investigations, which have not yet ended, there are already some names of those responsible for the crimes committed against the country.

Among the culprits, said the deputy, are: Juan Guaidó, David Smolansky, María Corina Machado, Leopoldo López, Henrique Capriles Radonsky, Antonio Ledezma, Carlos Vecchio, Miguel Pizarro, Juan Pablo Guanipa, William Dávila, Freddy Superlano, Horacio Medina, “the list is longer,” Infante emphasized.

As for international figures, they appear among others: former President Donald Trump, spokesmen such as John Bolton, Elliott Abrams, William Brownfield and Luis Almagro.

Likewise, he made it clear that some representatives belonging to organizations of the American States, some presidents of Latin America, the United States Department of the Treasury, OFAC, Cristalex, the Southern Command, the National Security Council, the Prosecutor’s Office, Exxon Mobil, are also on the list.

With these first investigations “international responsibilities and crimes are being defined.”

In this sense, he explained that the Special Commission intends to hold forums with the People’s Power, social movements, oil, health, and food workers, sectors that have been widely affected and hit by the sanctions.

“We also have legislative proposals, but we must expand them. In addition, an agenda for formal denunciation in national and international instances, with the purpose that the people raise their voices in defense of the homeland”, he stressed.

He emphasized that each and every one of the proposals comes with its corresponding evidence and “this investigation will determine the crimes committed nationally and internationally, and proposals will be made so that the National Assembly and the people can defend the homeland from foreign attacks,” he added.
