This Thursday, the National Assembly (AN) approved in a second discussion 19 of the 46 articles of the Project for the Organic Law on Asset Forfeiture, a rule that will establish the mechanisms to identify, locate and recover assets derived from illegal activities.
The bill, submitted to the consideration of the Parliamentary Plenary for its imminent sanction, also seeks the extinction of the rights related to the ownership of these assets in favor of the Republic, without any consideration or compensation.
The proposal is divided into four chapters, an explanatory statement, a general provision and a final provision. This will be used as a legal tool to secure all assets seized in corruption or related processes.
At the request of the president of the Permanent Commission on Domestic Policy, Deputy Diosdado Cabello Rondón, the discussion of the bill was deferred in order to exhaustively review the text.
Deputy Cabello indicated that when the regulations were socialized “observations and recommendations began. We received more than 1,200 proposals”.
