The Plenary of the National Assembly (AN) approved on Tuesday the appointment of Rodulfo Perez Hernandez as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The deputy Azucena Jaspe, presented the favorable report prepared by the Foreign, Sovereignty and Integration Commission, through which the appointment of the current ambassador was supported by the Constitutional President, Nicolás Maduro Moros.
The Legislative Commission gave the go-ahead on September 15, after the appearance of the official during a day in accordance with the disposition and responsibility of the legislative work to cooperate with the National Executive.
On that date, today’s ambassador indicated that Venezuela coincides with the ambition to expand the educational objectives and goals that UNESCO promotes today. In his opinion, the country would be in a highly relevant position in the world in this area of education, the AN published a note on his website.
Regarding the mission that he will undertake as a representative of Venezuela, Pérez explained that the fundamental mission will be to work on the preservation of intangible cultural heritage such as the Dancing Devils of Yare, the Parranda de San Pedro, as a popular and religious festival; The Carnival of El Callao, and San Juan Bautista, among others.
He announced that he will promote the Quality Education for All Project, as it is an important issue on his work agenda.
