AN approved agreement for the Battle of Carabobo

During the ordinary session this Thursday, the deputies to the National Assembly (AN) approved an agreement in Commemoration of the 201 years of the Battle of Carabobo.

Said agreement establishes that bodies of the national public power and the rest of the institutions of the Condition maintain the victorious spirit of the Battle of Carabobo preserving the maximum resistance and self-determination of a people.

It also establishes to send greetings to the men and women who are part of the glorious Bolivarian army and thank them for the work they face day by day. Finally, the agreement must be delivered to the General Commander of the Bolivarian Army and must be published in the gazette.

The deputy to the National Assembly (AN), Jesús Suárez Chourio, participated in the debate. The parliamentarian highlighted Bolívar’s vision that established the order to achieve victory and extolled the idea of ​​Commander Hugo Chávez, who linked this feat with the challenges of the Bolivarian Revolution.

“The Battle of Carabobo is the secret of our ancestors to understand that we will never be defeated if we have the strength in our soul… Chavez He told us there is so much to learn from our history because the secret is in the past, the key”, he pointed out.

In that sense, he stressed that Bolívar triumphed in Carabobo with that ideal, “and with the same ideal, President Nicolás Maduro has been overcoming the attacks and sieges of imperialism,” he said.

“The Venezuelan people have had a historical resistance of more than 300 years, to refuse to lose their freedom and independence,” he said.

For this reason, he urged to continue consolidating independence, freedom and peace in the Venezuelan nation.

The first vice president of the AN, deputy Iris Varela, highlighted the courage of soldiers, men and women, who did not beg the Spanish empire to achieve freedom through a concession, but rather shed their blood on the battlefield. She argued that this is why today Venezuelans are free, independent and sovereign.

The president of the Permanent Comptroller’s Commission, deputy Alexis Rodríguez Cabello, also spoke, offering a tour of the emblematic moments that account for Simón Bolívar’s status as leader and strategist. He highlighted the decisive combat of the troops commanded by El Libertador in 1821 to consolidate the independence from the Spanish crown. He noted that the battle ended a 300-year colonial relationship, a bitter civil conflict and a ten-year war of independence.

Rodríguez Cabello insisted on the need to remember the legacy of Hugo Chávez. He added that Carabobo is the unifying message of history for the struggle and defense of a free homeland at this time of attack against the country by the North American empire and other governments.

Next, the opposition deputy Alfonso Campos commented that the Battle of Carabobo allowed to consolidate the beginning of the independence of Venezuela. “As a democratic opposition, we will never stop recognizing the emancipatory deed, the victory, success and strategy, not only of El Libertador, but of the 11 generals in chief of this deed that have given us freedom and that today we recognize and will never doubt. that we are a free homeland,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, deputy José Gregorio Vielma Mora closed the debate by saying that Carabobo means the fight against the greatest genocide, rape and slavery that the Spanish empire maintained. He concluded by recalling that this battle is the fundamental essence of independence and the spirit of revolutionary unity. “This battle shattered any element that could divide us. Carabobo was the supreme consummation of freedom and independence », he stressed.

This Friday June 24 201 years have passed since the Battle of Carabobo, a historic event in which the patriotic forces of the Liberator Simón Bolívar managed to defeat those of the Spanish empire led by Marshal Miguel de la Torre.
