Deputies to the National Assembly held a meeting, this Tuesday, with representatives of the different political parties that have representation before the National Electoral Council to advance in the preparation of the electoral schedule for the year 2025.
The meeting was headed by the president of parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, who highlighted the broad participation of political organizations in this dialogue table, which seeks to comply with the provisions of our current legal system regarding the calling of elections.
“We have invited the political parties with representation in the National Electoral Council (CNE) and we have also invited the governors of States that were elected with opposition planks. It has been a very busy, almost complete, attendance of all the parties from the broad spectrum that make up the electoral panorama of Venezuela,” he emphasized.
In this sense, the president of the Venezuelan parliament proposed that this working group be declared a permanent session so that, in a peremptory period, they can have the proposals that they will submit for the consideration of the Electoral Branch. “This year we have to hold all the elections that are established, therefore what emerges from here will be the proposal that is submitted to the CNE, which is the only Public Power that is empowered and capable of calling electoral events,” he highlighted.
Likewise, in order to advance more quickly in the development of the proposals, Rodríguez proposed that three working groups be created in order to evaluate the issues related to the elections and the respective schedules for their development.
“The suggestion I would like to make is that we establish proposals for electoral dates and schedules that allow the voter to become familiar with the electoral event itself. It is inconvenient if we hold the elections, imagine the level, the size of that process,” he highlighted.
Likewise, he stressed that the times to call the elections are short, so he asked the deputies and representatives of the parties to focus on proposing dates and draft electoral schedules, as well as establishing the convenience of the order in which the voting is done. .
“Also evaluate the rules of the democratic game within the framework of what the laws and constitution of our Republic establish. As well as the requirements and conditions that must be met to be a candidate for these elected positions,” he noted.
