An accident in Güines, Mayabeque province, claimed the lives of an eight-month-old American baby, Steven, and a Cuban, Katia Nazco Vives, on Thursday.
The incident occurred at kilometer 54 of the National Highway, at the entrance to Güines, early in the morning, when the rented vehicle in which the victims were traveling collided with the separator of the road and was ejected.
“He flew through the air,” witnesses commented at the Facebook page where the news was released. In the comments of the same publication, the details of the injured were given.

Katia Nazco’s body was buried in Taguasco, Sancti Spíritus, where she was originally from, as confirmed by this newspaper. The one with the baby was transferred to Havana, for being a US citizen.
In 2021 there were 5,612 accidents in Cuba, which left 350 dead and 3,700 injured, according to the National Road Safety Commission. Most of them are not news in the official press.
