After a new meeting between the spokespersons of the indigenous communities settled for eight months in the National Park, and the district and national authorities, it was reported that an agreement was reached so that the natives are transferred in the best possible conditions to Parque la Florida also in Bogotá, and where other members of the Embera community are already found.

The Ombudsman Carlos Camargo, who participated in this meeting, highlighted that agreements have been reached through proactive and constructive dialogue.

“I want to highlight the significant progress in the transition process of the relocation of the 15 indigenous communities settled in the national park, who In a few hours they will be transferred in dignified conditions, and in safe conditions to the Parque de la Florida, that is why we as the Public Ministry are permanently going to accompany these processes. of return in responsible and voluntary conditions”, said the Ombudsman.

In his turn, the Secretary of Government of Bogotá Felipe Jiménez thanked the moderators and participants of the dialogue table and highlighted that a consensual agreement had been reached, of which he provided some details.

“We will have a transition process for a dignified, safe and guaranteed return for all the indigenous communities that are in the National Park and who wish to voluntarily return to their territories, this process would begin tomorrow, Saturday, May 7, and will take place with a transitional transfer of some families to the temporary accommodation in La Florida, the families that are located in that temporary accommodation will be assured of food kits, transportation, school care, care in early childhood health and care“.

The Secretary of Government also said “we will work with the entire district to increase the offer of economic inclusion so that these families can increase their resources. We are going from the District to have an emergency plan to comply with the affirmative actions of our development plan, we agreed comply with 62 affirmative measures which will be resolved in this government in its entirety. We agreed on the participation of indigenous peoples in this process, where they will have space in the different tables and participation spaces of the District, we are going to expand their participation in these spaces” .

In this way, it is expected that the indigenous communities will begin their transfer to the temporary accommodation space of Parque La Florida in the west of Bogotá in the next few hours, it has also been known that some members of these communities have decided to return to their territories of origin. , after the accompaniment and the commitments that were achieved with the National and District governments.
