The National Assembly (AN) 2020 approved the final report of the Special Commission that investigates the participation of political parties and parliament deputies between the years 2016-2021 in the “dispossession” of Citgo, and the Prosecutor’s Office was asked to initiate an investigation to determine responsibility of those involved.
The decision was made in the ordinary session on Tuesday, October 22. The deputies voted for the report to be sent to the Autonomous Notary Service, with the aim of identifying the property registry of those involved so that the Domain Forfeiture Law is applied in cases where it was necessary.
Parliament also urged the Attorney General’s Office to issue prohibitions on alienating and encumbering assets, as well as freezing the accounts of those involved in the “Citgo theft” between 2019 and 2020, when deputy Juan Guaidó served as “president in charge.” .
The first vice president of parliament, Pedro Infante (PSUV-Nacional), presented the final report to the plenary session. From the speakers’ gallery he recalled that both Citgo and Venezuelan crude oil are desired by the United States government and that for this reason the administrations of the North American nation have attacked the peace of the country.

According to the parliamentarian, in 2018 when Donald Trump was president of the United States, the alleged theft began to be planned. He accused José Ignacio Hernández, who was appointed as special prosecutor by Guaidó, of being the “intellectual author” of the plot.
He indicated that there are 351 people who are designated to join the plot. He mentioned the political parties Acción Democracia, Primero Justicia, Voluntad Popular, Vente Venezuela, Un Nuevo Tiempo, Democratic Unity Table and their boards of directors in force at the time of the dispossession as those criminally responsible after this investigation.
“In 2018, especially in the month of May, the United States pressured to try to make Nicolás Maduro, who was a candidate, capitulate, and who was also elected (as president) in that same month,” he added.
Some names mentioned in the session were Henry Ramos Allup (AD), Juan Guaidó and Delsa Solórzano (Encuentro Ciudadano). Regarding those involved who are outside Venezuela, the deputies asked the MP to request a red alert from Interpol.
Likewise, the Comptroller General of the Republic will be requested to politically disqualify all those involved in this investigation from holding public office, as well as those who “usurped” positions covered by the interim period imposed in 2019.
Parliament also began this Tuesday the second discussion of the bill to reform the National Flag, National Anthem and Coat of Arms Law. However, the debate was requested to be postponed to make improvements to the text, which was corrected repeatedly by the board.
