AN-2015 supports worker protests and demands living wages for all

The 2015 National Assembly highlighted the urgency of establishing a minimum wage that allows workers to meet their basic needs, as well as the restitution of premiums and social security

The 2015 National Assembly (AN) joined, this Monday, January 30, the demand for a decent wage for all workers in the country, within the framework of the third session of the Social Dialogue Forum of businessmen, unions and unions, under assistance from the International Labor Organization (ILO).

In this sense, the 2015 NA highlighted the urgency of establishing a minimum wage that allows them to meet their basic needs, as well as the restitution of premiums and social security.

“Teachers and any public sector worker do not earn a salary greater than six or seven dollars a month, a figure that does not even cover 5% of the basic food basket, which is located at $485,” he denounced.

He also expressed that the lack of a decent salary has caused many teachers to have to work more than 10 hours a day in different trades in order to survive the economic crisis generated by the inhumane policies of the Nicolás Maduro regime.

The AN-2015 urged the ILO to listen and engage in a healthy dialogue with all union and union representatives that make up the Venezuelan working class, in order to reach an agreement that allows the recovery of the quality of life of Venezuelans.

He demanded the immediate release of the union leaders detained “unfairly by the Maduro government for denouncing the violation of their rights and the serious situation that the various sectors are going through.”

Finally, he recalled that the 2015 National Assembly continues to work together with the citizen organization, “to achieve free elections with guarantees, where the consolidation of a democratic government can be achieved; and thus implement a new economic and social model that generates well-being for all Venezuelans”.

From this Monday, January 30 to February 2, social dialogue meetings are held in the country, with the aim of reviewing compliance with the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry of the International Labor Organization.
