Until this Thursday, September 15, the Congress of the Republic has a deadline to approve the amount of the general budget for 2023.
Although the Legislature has in its power an article that pursues $391.4 billion, according to the project filed by the Iván Duque administration on July 29, in accordance with the legal deadlines, The Treasury is pursuing an addition of $11 billion for the other year.

“We are going to present an addition of $11 billion, a little more than that, but also very well financed, they are not debt resources, but firm government resources”, assured Ocampo, who indicated that inflation, being higher than originally expected, will have an effect on operating expenses.
Thus, the government projects that the next year’s general budget amounts to $402.5 billion.
Of that addition, at least $8 billion would go to priority investment projects of the government, such as peace, fight against hunger, rural development, culture, environment and sports.

According to the minister, it is projected that the good results in terms of collection this year (due to the reactivation, the fight against tax evasion and higher taxation) give cash for $8 billion to the Nationwhile the remainder corresponds to financial surpluses that have not been used by some entities.
