Amnesty Law Monitoring Commission will review labor cases

The deputy and president of the Monitoring Subcommittee for Labor Issues of the Special Commission of the Amnesty Law, Francisco Torrealba, stated yesterday that they are “ready to receive” and address the proposals of the cases associated with workers and union members of the public and private sectors.

“We will review everything that needs to be reviewed, whether it is a complaint that originates from a worker or union leader in the public sector, or from a worker or union leader in the private sector,” he assured.

He stated that they will review cases of deprivation of liberty, retirement without request, unjustified dismissals or other cases that arise, “whether or not they are contained within the Amnesty Law (…) we have the doors of the National Assembly open 24-7 to receive the documents that are presented,” he stressed.

When asked about a possible reform of the Labor Law, Torrealba expressed that they are “willing to adapt everything that needs to be adapted in terms of the rights and achievements of workers to make it a way to obtain better benefits for the well-being and lives of workers.”

He confirmed that “a set of consultations” have been given to specialists and the worker bases in relation to salary. “There are many experts working on this matter right now,” he stressed.
