The federal president recalled that the Article 89 of the Constitution It establishes, in its section X, that the head of the Executive Branch will conduct foreign policy with the principles of “self-determination of peoples; non-intervention; the peaceful resolution of controversies.”
“Before, the Constitution was respected in form and violated in substance, it was a dead letter, this was not changed during the neoliberal period because simulation predominated, but this article in section X summarizes everything that is the history of Mexico in terms of foreign policy,” he said.
He considered that his government has taken care of its domestic policy because he believes that it is the best foreign policy that can exist for Mexico to be respected in the world.
“As a policy, we have applied not to be a beacon in the street and darkness in the home. I maintain that the best foreign policy is the domestic one. If we are well served in Mexico by justice, we are respected; if there is honesty in Mexico, we are respected; if we take care that human rights are not violated, we are respected,” he said.
López Obrador denied having recently communicated with Nicolás Maduro, a politician who has visited Mexico on several occasions, one of them to participate in the migration summit.
