With absolute adherence to legality, patience and the support of the people, we restarted the work on the Cancun-Tulum section. The amparos did not proceed in legal, environmental or social matters. There will be Mayan Train. pic.twitter.com/jJiRKKDEDT

Mexican authorities assured today that “in the communities near the Mayan Train route, employment opportunities have reduced emigration, people can now work and be close to their family.”
During his Fourth Government Report, López Obrador said that the Mayan Train will be inaugurated in December 2023.
On August 1, the Government of Mexico decreed the expropriation of a total area of one million 93,118.93 square meters of private property in the municipalities of Benito Juárez, Puerto Morelos, Solidaridad and Tulum, state of Quintana Roo, for the construction of Section 5 of the Mayan train.
The expropriation includes the buildings and facilities that are on the land itself and that are part of it, according to the decree published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).
In July 2022, given the injunctions that have been filed against it, the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador declared the Mayan Train a national security project, which will guarantee that no legal recourse will stop it.
“There was a declaration by the National Security Council, where the work is a priority and is a national security issue and is in charge of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Public Security…in the Security Council session they determined that it is a National security work on the railways, and that the interested parties, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of the Interior, were the ones who determined that the work should begin,” Javier May, general director of the National Tourism Fund, reported at the time.
