On the afternoon of December 1, 2018, after taking office as President of the Republic, López Obrador assumed as a commitment for his government to know the truth and punish those responsible for the disappearance of the 43 normalista students.
Almost four years after that commitment, the whereabouts of the young people are still unknown, although Alejandro Encinas, head of the Commission for Truth and Access to Justice in the Ayotzinapa Case, has assured that there is no sign of life of the students.
Last Friday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador instructed Encinas Rodríguez to request the Judiciary to make public the list of former officials involved in the disappearance of the young people. That same day, Alejandro Encinas offered a press conference in which he announced that due to due process, they would not be allowed, however, he said that they would argue the principle of maximum publicity.
Hours later, a part of the report was leaked that was “tested” with key information for the case, such as the way in which the young people were allegedly murdered.
In response, Alejandro Encinas condemned the leak and described it as “lack of respect” for the parents of the normalistas.
I condemn the unfortunate leak of the information given to the @FGRMexico by the Commission of #Ayotzinapa.
It is absolutely irresponsible and disrespectful to the parents of the missing students.

The also undersecretary asked the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) to open an investigation to identify and punish whoever leaked the information.
In this regard, the president regretted the leak, but said that in his opinion it is better that all the information is known.
“I think they did it in bad faith but in my opinion things should not be hidden. I apologize not only for that but because they unfairly did their children, I apologize, ”he pointed out.
