MIAMI, United States. — The Government of Mexico plans to hire another 600 Cuban doctors for the mass public health program promoted by the president of that country, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO).
The intention of the Mexican authorities was announced this morning, during the usual press conference offered by AMLO from the National Palace.
AMLO’s intentions to hire more Cuban doctors were announced by the director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoe Robledo.
So far, the Government of Mexico, through the mediation of the IMSS, has summoned 610 Cuban specialists through the agreement with Cuban Medical Services. And they hope that the number will increase almost double by summoning 600 more doctors.

On January 31, the Mexican government reported that 552 Cuban doctors They were working in that country, by virtue of the agreements signed with the Havana regime.
On that occasion, Zoé Robledo himself indicated that the 552 doctors worked in 12 health facilities in the country. Of these, 68 new specialists have already transferred to the units where they will serve.
Among the health professionals in Cuba are specialists in Geriatrics, Dermatology, Allergology, Rehabilitation and Internal Medicine scattered in hospitals in states such as Colima, Guerrero, Michoacán, Oaxaca, Zacatecas and Morelos.
The “exchange” in health matters between Mexico and the Cuban regime dates back to the COVID-19 pandemic, when AMLO requested help from Havana to face the health crisis.
The hiring of Cuban doctors has previously been questioned in countries such as Brazil and Venezuela, due to the working conditions in which the doctors work and the rights violations to which they are subjected.
