This Tuesday, the president traveled to Tamaulipas to present the Support Plan for the state governed today by the morenista Américo Villarreal. Except for his visit to the Madero refinery last weekend, President López Obrador had not visited the state since the end of 2020.
The president traveled with his entire work team to express his support for the Villlarreal administration, who in recent weeks was accused of having links to organized crime.
From the beginning of his speech, President López Obrador supported the Morenoite, whom he described again as an honest man.
“It is very encouraging that Américo Villarreal, a man of integrity, honest, also has a clear vision of the development of the state of Tamaulipas. This will help a lot, of course. The main thing is honesty, I think that Tamaulipas and the country did badly because corruption prevailed. Whether put an end to that evil, with that plague, of course, it comes out ahead. That was not understood and applied for decades by the rulers in our country, they did not even talk about the serious problem, the main problem of Mexico, “he said.
The president acknowledged that Tamaulipas was a state that he had not visited for the last two years, but said that after the arrival of Villarreal, it will be a more frequent destination and announced that the federation will intensify support for the state.
“Of course all the actions of the federal government will be intensified, the conditions are better. There are unbeatable conditions for taking out Tamaulipas Go ahead, as Governor Américo Villarreal proposed here, we are going to continue with all the welfare programs, the resources will not be lacking so that all the pension welfare programs can continue”, he affirmed.
Taking the floor, the governor presented the diagnosis of what the PAN member Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca inherited, in which he highlighted a public debt of 16,000 million pesos; a deficit of 2,000 million pesos by the end of 2022; diversions of state origin in social programs, as well as abandonment in public safety equipment and infrastructure.
Regarding security, the governor affirmed that the state wants to reverse the situation of violence that has worsened in recent years.
