President Andrés Manuel López Obrador yesterday praised President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum for appointing General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo as the next Secretary of National Defense and Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles as the future head of the Navy.

These are key appointments and one cannot make a mistake in that. I did not make a mistake with General (Luis Cresencio) Sandoval or Admiral (Rafael) Ojeda, and she will not make a mistake either.said the president at his press conference at the Palace.

Asked if he was consulted by Sheinbaum for the appointments, López Obrador replied: No, she decided because it was up to her, but she decided very well..

He said he knows both military officers, since Trevilla, current head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of National Defense, attends the daily meetings of the security cabinet, while Morales is general director of the Interoceanic Corridor.

López Obrador stressed that yesterday he and Sheinbaum would attend a ceremony with the commanders of the Army and Navy.

It is to continue reaffirming that the sailors, the soldiers, are uniformed people. And that they help us a lot to make the transformation of the country a reality.the president stated.

With them, especially since the creation of the National Guard was authorized, we can guarantee peace.he assured.
