With a fleet of 332 aircraft, the administration of four airports, the ongoing construction of one more and the challenge of forming a new commercial line, the Mexican Air Force will celebrate its 108th anniversary today with a ceremony at Military Air Base number 5 in Zapopan, Jalisco, which will be led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
In addition, military aviation will face a new challenge of ratifying in the Senate the Law for the Protection of the Mexican Air Space, which will entrust it with the surveillance of traffic in the national skies.
The Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) took charge of the construction, for the first time in our country, of an air terminal for civil use, the Felipe Ángeles International Airport.
The military is also building the new airport in Tulum, Quintana Roo, and will be in charge of the Chetumal, Palenque and Campeche air terminals, assigned to the Olmeca-Maya-Mexica Airport, Railway and Auxiliary Services Group, a parastatal in which Sedena has majority participation.
