This Sunday in Mexico City, the VII Extraordinary National Congress of Morena was held, where Luisa María Alcalde was elected president, Carolina Rangel as general secretary and other secretaries, including Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, to head the Organization secretariat.
Prior to the election of the new leadership, the president of the National Council, Alfonso Durazo, read a letter sent by President López Obrador to ask the party to accompany and support the next president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum.
“Friends of Morena, I am retiring from politics, public life and party activism with enormous gratitude to the people and in particular to you, my colleagues, who with such conviction promoted me and helped me as a leader and as a governor. I hope you accompany me in the difficult task of governing, with the same loyalty, with the same affection and with the same enthusiasm that you had for me,” says the letter that was read by the governor of Sonora.
The president expressed his joy that Luisa María Alcalde was elected unanimously.
“I am very happy and the same with the arrival of Luisa María to the presidency of Morena, and I congratulate all the delegates of Morena, those who participated in Congress, in the Council and the new leaders of Morena,” he said.
