Questioning the performance of the president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), Norma Piña, for admitting arbitrarily
In the case of two appeals related to a tax evasion of 35 billion pesos (related to Grupo Salinas), President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that he would proceed to denounce her and request impeachment. However, he said, that appeal will not be promoted because it would be said that there is persecution against her.
The president criticized Piña for allocating these resources, “which mean paying taxes for a company of 35 billion pesos, even though he should have rejected them from the start because they were not appropriate. related to the allocation of plurinominal legislators made by the National Electoral Institute, a decision that legally corresponds to the Electoral Court.

. He asserted that in the case of Piña, his behavior would justify the promotion of a political trial against him, however, If they have already gone to the OAS, oh, how scary! Now they would go to complain to the King of Spain or to the State Department of the United States government. But it is clear that they are violating the Constitution.

He pointed out that this matter is already res judicata, because The files have already been through the Court, where it was decided that it was not within the jurisdiction of the ministers, that it should go to a tribunal. It went to the tribunal, they ruled in favour of the public treasury, the public budget, that is, that they should contribute that money, and yet another appeal comes and they return to the Court, and they accept it. Now, there is no way they are going to come out with the claim that it will not be paid. I leave it to them there.

–But, is impeachment appropriate, Mr. President?
–But there are many things involved. The question is, how would it be viewed if a request for impeachment was filed against Mrs. Piña? That there is persecution.
He explained that his government argued that, based on the provisions of the Constitution and the laws on the matter, this case could not be returned to the Court again, because there is no basis, as there are no alleged signs that there was a constitutional violation that would allow the Court to enter into this matter. Therefore, it should be considered closed, he pointed out.
Questioned about the resolution of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights that considers the reform a technical blow to the Judiciary, the president dismissed that position, because in reality it corresponds to the Organization of American States, That is, it is going to complain to Washington. Really, it is very regrettable.
