The Minister of Education, Marco Antonio Avilarequested the resignation of the director of the National Board of School Aid and Scholarships (Junaeb), Jaime Tohawho has held the position since 2017, under the second administration of former President Michelle Bachelet.
The request for resignation comes amid criticism from the Confederation of Students of Chile (Confech) to the amount of the Food Scholarship for Higher Education (BAES), which has been maintained at $32,000 pesos for 10 years.

In a letter addressed to officials – released by Radio Bio Bio-, Tohá confirmed his resignation. “Together we transform Junaeb, despite the difficulties and challenges, advancing towards what moves us: working for the children and youth of Chile,” she said in the letter. .
“I have great experiences convinced that it is not possible to do everything, but it is possible to do what is necessary,” he added.
