The American consortium BlueCo, which acquired the English club Chelsea last year, announced this Thursday the purchase of Strasbourg, team of the first division of French football.
“This agreement marks a new chapter in the history of Racing since the consortium is committed to accelerating sustainable investments in the growth of the club, including those that take place in the first teams and in the Academy (training), in continuity with the project put into operation by Marc Keller, which will continue to be club president, supported by his current management team,” BlueCo said in a statement.
The group acquired the entirety of shares of Strasbourg, specified a source close to the matter, without being able to provide details on the amount of the investment.
“BlueCo is committed to preserving the legacy of Racing (from Strasbourg) and wants to work closely with Marc Keller and its management team to be able to continue the excellent work done,” the statement added.
Strasbourg becomes the fifth Ligue 1 club to move to have American ownersafter Marseille, Lyon, Toulouse and Le Havre.
