Amelia Calzadilla is summoned to appear this Monday at the headquarters of the Cerro Government

MIAMI, United States.- Amelia Calzadilla, the young mother known in recent days in Cuba for a direct message on Facebook in which she charged against the leaders of the regime for the conditions in which millions of Cubans live, was summoned to appear this Monday at the seat of the Government of Cerro, at 11:00 a.m.

This was reported this Sunday by Miami-based journalist Karen Caballero. “Amelia Calzadilla is summoned to the government of El Cerro, Havana, this Monday, 11 am”, wrote.

For her part, the activist Salome García Bacallao summoned those who support the young Cuban. “Those who support Amelia Calzadilla have the opportunity to demonstrate it tomorrow at the Cerro Government headquarters,” she wrote on her Twitter social network account.

Amelia Calzadilla gained notoriety on last Thursday after unleashing his frustration against the country’s leaders through a direct message on Facebook, in which he initially blamed the Minister of Energy and Mines, Nicolás Liván Arronte Cruz, for the high sums of money he must pay monthly for electricity service.

In the video, of just over eight minutes, Calzadilla explained that, since July 2021, when the government changed electricity rates in the country, she pays 6,000 pesos for current at home, among other things because she cannot cooking with gas “because 10 years ago, the buildings they built in Calzada de Buenos Aires and Consejo Arango, neither the Minister of Energy and Mines nor anyone cared that they had gas”.

The young woman also had strong words for Miguel Díaz-Canel, Bruno Rodríguez and Lis Cuesta. Outraged and visibly frustrated, Calzadilla recounted the vicissitudes she must go through with three small children.

Since that day, several Cuban mothers and fathers have gone out on networks denouncing their situation and supporting the young woman, whose internet was even cut off by ETECSA because of her video. The shows of support and solidarity with Amelia have not stopped, inside and outside the island.

However, this Saturday the official press lashed out at the Cuban mother, calling her “a textbook example of what is called irritation management.”

On the official site Cubdebate, the journalist Ernesto Estévez tried to discredit the woman: “Amelia’s viral video is a textbook example of what is called irritation management, and adds, “A specific context is taken (scarcity, linked to inflation), it is hyperbolized in its negative aspects, dramatizing its consequences (the children do not have a snack), it is targeted in a specific aspect that is sensitive and easy to understand, but that serves as a symbol (the bill of the light), it focuses on who wants to be blamed (the Government)”.

The author of the Cubadebate article assures that Amelia Calzadilla “tries to use that context to exacerbate irritation, manipulate you and induce an emotional response that is not a solution, but serves her purposes.”
