The Mexican official said he will remain at the head of the embassy in the United States. He also defended the decisions of President Claudia Sheinbaum regarding the bilateral relationship with Donald Trump.
“They have asked me to support her and so it will be, one day, one month, more year, she will decide based on what Mexico needs, because it is not vanities or selfish attitudes,” he said in a shared video on social networks.
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, still plans to fulfill his promise to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico on Saturday, the White House spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt told the press.
The official stressed that Trump also still considers new tariffs to China for Saturday.
Trump said last week that he would announce 25% tariffs to Mexico and Canada on February 1 unless countries help address the problems of fentanyl and immigration traffic.
