The ambassador of Peru to the United Arab Emirates, Alberto Farje Orna, presented his credentials this Wednesday to the president of that nation, Sheik Mohamed bin Sayed Al-Nahyan, during an official ceremony held at the “Qasr Al Watan” Palace of the Nation in Abu Dhabi.
The ceremony was attended by 14 other ambassadors, who also presented their respective credentials to the Emirati president. This act marks a significant step in the consolidation of diplomatic relations between Peru and the United Arab Emirates, officially established on June 17, 1986.
After the ceremony, Ambassador Farje Orna held a meeting with President Al-Nahyan, who expressed his government’s interest in deepening bilateral relations, highlighting opportunities to expand cooperation in investment and trade.
For his part, the Peruvian diplomat reaffirmed Peru’s commitment to strengthening ties between both nations and highlighted the joint work that has been carried out with the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Lima.
The recent opening of the Peruvian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, made official on January 9, 2024, is aligned with the 2020-2026 Institutional Strategic Plan of the Peruvian Foreign Ministry. This plan seeks to promote greater interaction with countries in the Persian Gulf, the Middle East and Africa, with emphasis on the development of diplomatic, economic and cultural relations.
Farje Orna was appointed as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Peru in the United Arab Emirates on July 3, by means of a supreme resolution. On that occasion, he was granted the Credential Letters and Full Powers necessary to represent the country in this important mission.
