The Association of Wholesalers in Supplies of Santo Domingo (Amaproado) called on the Government to apply a series of recommendations to strengthen the commercial sector and the country’s supply chain, such as the creation of a monotax system for micro, small businesses and entrepreneurs, unemployment insurance and that the sector has representation in the Economic and Social Council (CES).

He said that this tax scheme is a tool that has already been implemented in countries in the region such as Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil, with great success in the formalization and development of micro and small businesses.
Cosma also proposed the creation of unemployment insurance that, without affecting the acquired rights of workers, can serve as support in times of labor instability.
“The experience in other countries such as Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, and Uruguay, shows that it is possible to implement an unemployment insurance system that does not affect the benefits already acquired by workers and that can be financed through tripartite contributions. between the State, employers and employees. This type of insurance can be an important step to create a more inclusive and resilient labor market,” he indicated.
Representation at the CES
The president of Amaproado considered it essential that wholesale trade has formal representation in the Economic and Social Council (CES) to be able to actively contribute to decisions that impact the national economy, and, in particular, the country’s food security.
He stated that the CES is a space for dialogue where key issues for national development are discussed and analyzed, such as employment policies, the tax system and market regulation.
“Having a representative of the wholesale sector in this organization will allow the needs and proposals of our sector to be heard, and therefore, we will have a better design as a country thanks to the fact that we have real-time information on the consumption needs of our population,” he said.
