Amadita por Tu Salud presents a conversation: "Let's talk about Monkeypox or the monkey"

In line with the commitment to the health of Dominicans, Amadita Clinical Laboratory presents a new installment of “Amadita por Tu Salud”, a growth, training and knowledge program, which intends to bring a contribution to the population.

This installment of Amadita por tu Salud, the central theme is detection and prevention against Monkeypox or Monkeypoxled by doctors Talía Flores and Héctor Balcácer, renowned specialists in infectious diseases.

This conversation is available on the YouTube channel or on Spotify of Amadita Clinical Laboratory, from Friday, August 12, at 7:00 p.m.

Amadita Clinical Laboratory, in the interest of protecting the health of the population in the face of the growth in cases of Monkeypox, announced that it has virus detection in its catalog of tests.

This virus belongs to the family of double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) viruses, Poxviridae, genus Orthopoxivirus. Its common name is Poxivirus. To this family belong the smallpox virus, the molluscum contagiosum virus, the Orf and the Monkeypox virus.

The Laboratory Test for Monkeypox is a qualitative, real-time PCR-based test for detecting Monkeypox virus (MPXV) nucleic acids in samples from skin lesions.

In this test they investigate two targets, one specific to the monkeypox virus and one generic to the Orthopoxvirus genus.

The sample required for testing is skin lesion material including: swab of lesion exudate, upper border of lesions (roof) and/or lesion crusts.

The results indicate the presence or absence of Monkeypox virus DNA and/or DNA from Orthopoxvirus species other than monkeypox.

Amadita Clinical Laboratory always recommends using scientifically based sources and following the prevention and care advice of your doctor.

Amadita por tu Salud is a program aimed at providing accurate and valuable information on health issues, from experienced specialists in different areas.
