The most important alpaca event internationally returns to the White City. This is the Alpaca Fiesta 2024, in its eighth edition, which will take place from October 21 to 26 at the Cerro Juli Fairgrounds in Arequipa, in the district of José Luis Bustamante y Rivero.
The activity will have the participation of the Ministry of Production (Produce) through the Camelid textile CITE network of the regions of Puno, Arequipa and Cusco of the Technological Institute of Production (ITP).

Its main objective is to disseminate and promote alpaca fiber in the global textile market, bringing together breeders, companies and institutions linked to the sector and South American camelids.
Exponents from Arequipa, Cusco and Puno
The ITP, through CITEtextil Camélidos Arequipa, will present innovative services to strengthen the transparency and competitiveness of companies. Additionally, computerized weaving machinery and services focused on circular economy processes, including yarn dyeing, washing and steaming garments, will be on display. Laboratory tests will also be offered that will evaluate the physical and physicochemical properties of alpaca fibers and fabrics.
Meanwhile, CITEtextil Camélidos Cusco will exhibit prototypes developed from the transformative process to the handmade thread. Likewise, it will present a capsule collection with alpaca fiber garments, which fuses fashion trends and the Andean worldview.

Added to this are designs and modeling of alpaca clothing packaging, also robotic technology and process automation of the camelid textile chain, digitalization (extended reality and traceability), among others.
For its part, CITEtextil Camélido Puno, in its commitment to promote the industry, will offer technical assistance and training in business management and product development using various artisanal techniques, such as dyeing, hand knitting and embroidery. In addition, two (02) demonstrative talks on categorization and classification of alpaca fiber.
