Almost three thousand people remain isolated in Alto Bío Bío after intense snowfall

During the day this Thursday, the Provincial Presidential Delegation addressed the situation generated by snowfalls in Alto Bío Bío, a fact that caused almost three thousand people to remain isolated and without electricity.

In the instance, which included the participation of various entities such as Conaf, Indap, Viability and the Army, alternatives were considered to supply food and fodder to families that have been affected by connectivity problems.

In this sense and in conversation with Radio Bío Bío, the provincial presidential delegate, Paulina Purrán, explained that three critical points presented by the commune due to the weather event were revealed. The instance was attended by the emergency manager of the area.

“He has indicated three critical points that have to do with food deficits and reactivating the delivery of forage, as well as roadblocks between communities. We must comment that solutions are already being generated through all these institutions,” he said. .

Along the same lines, Purrán indicated that he is working with Viability of the Ministry of Public Works to enable the routes and be able to transport the necessary food and fodder to the isolated areas.

In this way, thanks to the support of Indap, the municipality and the Army, it is expected that during this Friday the delivery of fodder to about 300 families in the commune will be achieved.

It should be noted that the municipality of Alto Bío Bío made a tour of the riverbanks to determine the status of the commune, where it was determined that the road from Pitril to Butalelbun and from El Avellano to Guallalí present problems.

Given this, the mayor of the commune, Nivaldo Piñaleo, emphasized that there are families who have not been able to access basic procedures such as subsidies or pensions, thus making it difficult to deliver fodder.

“The Alto Bio Bío territory is in a state of emergency despite many families feeling well, but they are disconnected from electricity, from public road connectivity. People are isolated,” he said.
