Almost fatal chemotherapy session: "Nurse admits she was wrong"

In an interview with the channel Gen – Nación Media, Dr. Julio Rolón indicated that the institution will be responsible for what happened to the cancer patient who was the victim of negligence during a chemotherapy session. The young woman went days ago to undergo chemotherapy at INCAN, although she received an overdose during the procedure, receiving 5 times more than the indicated dose.

As a result of this situation, the oncological patient had to be admitted immediately to Incan and was later transferred to the La Costa sanatorium, to ensure that she receives the best treatment there with specialists in the area. “She is stable according to oncologist Mario Meller. Complications will be seen in the coming days. Her health is being protected and monitored. She does not have bone marrow aplasia as reported,” she said.

Rolón maintained that the event that occurred is a very serious one and that human error was recognized from the first moment. “The nurse herself acknowledges that she was wrong. She didn’t try to justify anything, it just happened. We are now going to analyze her training and her level of work overload, we are going to try to find a reason,” she added.

As the nurse in question is a permanent official, the mechanism for the administrative investigation will now be activated. At the moment the worker has already been separated from her position (she was in charge of mixing the drugs), according to the director.

Finally, he said that it will be the family’s decision if he takes legal action against the nurse for negligence.

The entrance Almost fatal chemotherapy session: “Nurse admits she was wrong” was first published in diary TODAY.
