After completing the functionality time, the Provincial Municipality of Huancayo, through the Road Maintenance Area of the Public Works Management, began the removal of the bollards and topellantas from the bicycle lanes located in various streets of the three districts, which was installed for the safer transit of non-motorized vehicles.
These elements are progressively removed from the Ayacucho, Libertad, Lima, Loreto, Dos de Mayo, Cuzco, Parra del Riego and Catalina Huanca, José Olaya, San Carlos, Ferrocarril, Coronel Santiváñez and Miguel Grau avenues; there is a period of 15 days. The manager of Public Works, Carlos Pascual Álvarez, indicated that the investment made will not be wasted.

“Having completed the time of functionality, we are removing in the shortest possible time, the topellantas and bollards that will not be discarded, but reused recreationally in future cycle paths of other projects that will be evaluated for installation,” he assured.
Likewise, it specified that the total budget of S / 1,774,879 provided by the Central Government in November 2020 was not spent, nor was the installation of the bike path 100% fulfilled due to the project being stopped. “Promobility of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) closely followed the implementation of the bike lane not only in Huancayo but at the national level, from the preparation of the technical file. Around 300,000 soles was used in this stage, the rest will be reverted to the MTC once the project is considered closed”, he sustained.
While he stressed that there is no budget spent for the removal of bollards and topellantas, also if there is damage to the pavement, immediate intervention will be taken.

This work has generated a series of questions, even the Internal Control Body of the Municipality of Huancayo (OCI) ruled in January of this year due to the lack of socialization of it, which caused complaints.
The provincial councilor Paulo Beltrán, showed the concern of the great affectations to the roads and the asphalt that it will symbolize. “It is expected that the report from the Works management will be delivered within a maximum period of one week to show the budget execution and the investment in the implementation of the bike paths that were not completed with unfinished items that must be made transparent,” he said.
For her part, the councilor Larisa Rojas, considers that they should not have been withdrawn, until the administrative and criminal responsibilities are determined. “There is damage to the State because a budget was used and its implementation was not achieved, being a failure and there should be a sanction for all those who are responsible,” she said.
