Second-generation pensioners per retirement fund administrator (Afores) fluctuated around 23,280, according to data from the National Commission of the Retirement Savings System (Conser).
It should be remembered that as part of the reform to the Social Security Law (LSS), carried out in 2020, the number of weeks of contribution for the 1997 regime, or Afores, was lowered from 1,250 to 750. However, for last year, 775 weeks were necessary to be entitled to a pension; while for this 800 weeks will be required.
In this sense, the data from Consar show that more than 53,000 workers have received a pension through the Afores from January 2021 to December 2022.
In addition, in 2023 the last stage of the reform of the Social Security Law begins, with which employer contributions to the individual savings account will be increased from 3,150 to 11.87%.
Meanwhile, the Consar also revealed that the Retirement Savings System (SAR) manages 5 trillion 224,293 million pesos, which represents 18.84% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Of the total managed assets, 49.7% corresponds to returns, which represents 2.6 trillion pesos. In this sense, the system has granted a nominal annual return of 10.50% and 4.68% in real terms.
This, as a result of the investments made by Siefores in favor of workers, regardless of their income level or age”, explained Consar.
In addition, at the end of 2022, more than 72 million accounts are in the Retirement Savings System and 1.6 million account registrations were made last year. The average account balance was 92,429 pesos in 2022.
