Moments of anguish were recorded in the last hours in the municipality of Montería due to the alleged robbery of the mayor of Momil
The incident occurred yesterday morning, on 45th Street and 2nd Avenue in Montería.
Reports indicate that the president, Efré Puche Carrascal, was traveling in a gray Toyota pickup truck, accompanied by his team of bodyguards.
From one moment to the next, he was approached by the assailants.
However, when they tried to rob the mayor, an exchange of gunfire occurred that left one of the deceased dead. His accomplice managed to escape and is actively sought by the authorities.
According to authorities, the alleged criminals may have followed the mayor, who was allegedly carrying a briefcase containing a considerable sum of money.
Police are continuing their search for the second suspect and are conducting investigations to determine whether this attempted robbery was an isolated incident or part of a larger criminal operation.
It is known that the subject killed responded to the name of Neider Alexander Ospina Muñoz.
Police are investigating a possible connection to the ‘Clan del Golfo’, although this has not yet been confirmed.
