The Central American and Caribbean Games ended in El Salvador where the Panamanian delegation had a performance that had not been seen for many years, obtaining 5 gold, 6 silver and 12 bronze medals for a total of 23 medals in one of the events. most important sporting events in the region.
Since the Central American and Caribbean Games were held in 1970, coincidentally in Panama, a national delegation had not been able to obtain 5 gold medals in these games and they had not been among the top 10 in the medal table since 1990 when they were held in Mexico.
