The government established a series of Benefits with the objective of attract foreigners for the next tourist season. The measures cover gastronomythe accommodation and the fuels, among others. All benefits are already in force; some are valid all year and others until April 30, 2023.
According to information available at the Ministry of Tourism, in the first nine months of the year, 1,158,024 visitors arrived in Uruguay from abroad. It was mainly from Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. In the first case they were 740,633, in the second 242,322 and in the third 21,977. They all have a number of benefits. Throughout the year they have 0% VAT on hotels and accommodation. To obtain it, foreigners must present the identity document issued abroad.
Since September 1 there are 0% VAT on gastronomic services when they are provided by restaurants, bars, canteens, confectioneries, cafeterias, tea rooms and the like. It is also valid in hotels, motels, apart hotels, inns, tourist farms, country hotels, tourist farms, country inns, country houses and camping hostels, provided that these services do not integrate the concept of lodging.

The government ordered that there be aevolution of 10.5% of the real estate lease price for tourist purposes.
