With the cases of the fiscal huachicol and Segalmex it would be enough to place the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador as the most corrupt in history. It is impossible to separate the former president from the fuel smuggling plot because two of the central characters mentioned in the investigations are his son Andrés Manuel López Beltrán and his chief of assistants, Daniel Asaf, the official who accompanied him at all times.
The protection of Ignacio Ovalle in the Segalmex case is more than suspicious.
And what about his alleged links with the Sinaloa Cartel? In addition to how much has been published, the words of Porfirio Muñoz Ledo still resonate:
“Andrés Manuel López Obrador must understand that his collusion or alliance with the drug trafficker is not inheritable, because, as they have always done everywhere and in all political positions, they agree with whoever is going to arrive. He will no longer need the president’s drug trafficker”, of course, unless whoever succeeds him is subdued by will or by pressure.
The veteran politician was precise when he assured that the president of Morena, Mario Delgado, was related to the so-called King of Huachicol, Sergio Carmona, who was murdered in a hair salon in San Pedro Garza García. The former president left Delgado safely protected in the Ministry of Education.
At this point there are enough cases, information, documents, statements, accusations and more that lead us to believe that the former president’s alleged links with organized crime are not false, in particular with the Sinaloa Cartel and, in recent times, in the fiscal huachicol plot.
López Obrador has known how to watch his back, as happened when he was head of Government of the Federal District; The closest officials were shown in videos: René Bejarano, his private secretary, or Gustavo Ponce, Secretary of Finance.
In her book The King of Cash, journalist Elena Chávez, romantic partner of César Yáñez – for many years the man closest to AMLO –, reveals that: “Throughout the years that I lived next to César Yáñez, the motto was: ‘If they discover you, you blame yourself and stay silent.’”
In 2017, Operation Carousel was carried out by its private secretary, Alejandro Esquer, who allegedly removed 1.4 million pesos that were intended for those affected by the earthquake. There were no consequences.
Since the beginning of 2023, social networks have posted the hashtag #Narcopresidente after the revelations of three international media outlets – ProPublica, InSight Crime and Deutsche Welle – in which information from North American agencies that investigated the links of AMLO’s campaigns in 2006 and 2012 with the Sinaloa Cartel was disseminated. The three media outlets agree on the issue and maintain that the investigation was suspended by order of former President Obama.
Their closest relatives were shown receiving money or for government contracts; Even López Obrador himself accepted having received the money that the representative David León gave to his brothers Pío and Martín; both appear in the videos broadcast by Latinus.
Throughout the government and in the last year, in the media, portals and social networks, abundant information has circulated about the contracts, ties and conflicts of interest of his three eldest children. From the so-called Gray House, through contracts for the purchase of medicines, ballast and others that appear on the long list.
If two private secretaries, his Secretary of Finance, his chief of assistants, his “brother” Adán Augusto, his head of office, his brothers, children and relatives appear in deliveries of illicit money, dispossession of donations, contracts, tenders… Can you believe that Andrés Manuel López Obrador knew nothing of the above and much more that has been published?
No. All roads lead to López Obrador.
Let Claudia Sheinbaum say and write that “They will never be able to link AMLO with corruption.” It’s just called impunity.
