The Mayor’s Office of the National District closed all parks in the capital on Tuesday as a preventive measure due to the rain and winds affecting the city.
The decision was made after noon, after the Emergency Operations Center (COE) raised the alert level for the National District due to the incidence of an active tropical wave and a trough.
The security measure is a way of preventing situations that may affect citizens in the parks. It will also facilitate any cleaning work that may be required in these places.
So far, fallen trees have been reported in several parts of the capital, following strong winds and rain, so brigades from the National District Mayor’s Office are continuing to reestablish traffic in the affected areas.
The council called on the capital’s residents not to leave garbage bags on the sidewalks and in front of houses, to prevent them from being washed away by the rain, blocking the filters and causing flooding.
The city council asks citizens to keep informed about weather conditions through official media.
