Those responsible for the institutions in charge of investigating the cases of released femicides and rapists belong to the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) and are all men, they are part of some criticisms that have emerged in recent hours against the commission commissioned by the Government.
“Who will investigate whom?” was the question expressed by the former mayor of La Paz and lawyer Juan del Granado about this distribution.
For the jurist, it was the government party that “copied” the judicial body with its militants and led to corruption and impunity.
“The ‘Commission’ that will investigate impunity in 120 femicides, is made up of the MAS heads of 10 institutions. But it was the MAS that since 2011 took over the Judicial Branch with its militants, promoting corruption and impunity. So who will investigate who?” he stated on his Twitter account.
This Tuesday, President Luis Arce announced the creation of a Rape and Femicide Case Review Commission, with the aim of reviewing those processes in which sentenced people were released.

It was later reported that the commission will be made up of the Ministry of the Presidency, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Government, the president of the Chamber of Senators, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, the president of the Supreme Court of Justice, the president of the Judicial Council, the president of the Constitutional Court, the State Attorney General and the State Attorney General.
Of that group, only the Ministry of the Presidency is headed by a woman. The formation of this commission was observed by the senator of the Citizen Community (CC), Andrea Barrientos.
“A special commission of 10, with only one woman. Pure men want to solve how they kill us women. They are a shame!” The legislator reviewed on her Twitter account.

In reference to the criticism, the Minister of Justice, Iván Lima, considered that this issue should not be politicized.
“This should not be a politicized issue, it should not be a discussion between a former president and a minister, nor between a parliamentarian from the ruling party and the opposition, this goes beyond any element of politicization, here we are stripped of all political colors, here We do not have to attack the previous minister or the previous president, nor the election models, this is out of the debate, for the moment we have to see situations as sad as those that we Bolivians have experienced last week, “he said in an interview in the ATB network.

Del Granado is one of the jurists who considers that one of the factors that affects judicial independence is the political interference that occurs in the selection and appointment processes of judges and magistrates.

As established by the Constitution, the candidates for high authorities of the Judicial Branch who are subject to an election by popular vote, are selected by two thirds of the Legislative Assembly.
In the last two elections, the candidates were chosen by the Legislative Body in which the MAS had two thirds.
Former judge Rafael Alcón, who favored the femicide and serial rapist Richard Choque with house arrest despite having a 30-year sentence, is the brother of former Magistrate Gonzalo Alcón.
