Olympic beach volleyball champion in Rio 2016 and Silver in London 2012, Alison Cerutti, known as Mamute, announced on Thursday (24), that she will say goodbye to the sand courts at the end of the season. The 39 -year -old Capixaba athlete used social networks to communicate the decision. To end his 20 years of career, Mamute chose Copacabana Beach, the same place where he won the Olympic gold, where he will take place in October the carioca stage of the Brazilian Beach Volleyball Circuit. He will compete in pair with Bahia Juca.
“It’s a very special place for me. Copacabana is the ‘Maracanã’ of beach volleyball. In Copacabana I played some of the most important championships of my career, in Copacabana we won the gold medal at the Olympic Games. But I still miss good championships, make the most of this time I still have as a professional” says part of the video posted by Mamute on Instagram.
Alison’s first Olympic podium was in partnership with Emanuel at the London Games when they won the silver. Four years later, in Rio 2016, the capixaba finished gold in partnership with Bruno Schmidt.
“Everything has a beginning and an end. That medal in 2016 was not just mine, but from all over Brazil. I was very happy, much more than I imagined. Thanks, beach volleyball, you gave me everything and I gave you everything of me,” said Mammi.
