Today, at 5:00 p.m., at the Gran Hotel del Paraguay, the Alianza Encuentro Nacional will present seven candidates for the National Congress. This list will be made up mainly of “social referents”, and not by customary political figures, with the idea of making changes to the current government model, assured Fernando Camacho, president of the National Encounter Party.
“Not only do figures from political parties make up this list, but also figures from society. The important thing is that the three political groupings are opening their doors to citizen participation, which is essential to renew politics. That is our vision”, he referred.
Although he did not want to reveal the names of the candidates, Camacho assured that both he and Patrick Kemper (president of Hagamos) will make up the list of candidates for the Senate, which is made up of various social leaders in an alliance between the Encuentro Nacional and Hagamos con the Awakening movement.
“We are going to wait for 45 names and we have until August to present all the announcements. Tomorrow we would be presenting six or seven candidates as a first part of the confirmations, because we continue to talk with more people to join. The most important thing about this new moment in national politics is that the alliance is calling people who are participating in society”, he said.
The candidates for president of Paraguay for the National Coalition Soledad Núñez and Kattya González will be in charge of presenting today the names of the candidates on the list to compete for the Chamber of Senators for the Alianza Encuentro Nacional.
“We have been working for weeks to support a single list for the Senate, a strong one with the best men and women. We cannot continue voting for the unpresentable, the inoperative who only legislate for their particular sectors and interests,” said candidate Soledad Núñez in relation to the launch of the list.
