The Red Crescent Algerian (CRA) started this Sunday sending a donation to Cuba consisting of about 180 tons of food.
The president of the CRA, Ibtisam Hamlaoui, specified that this aid “granted to Cuba, a country that suffers from blocking and the persecution of hurricanes” is produced “in application of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune”.
In the name @EmbaCuba_Algiers, our gratitude to sister Algeria, to its president, government, people and to the Algerian Red Crescent for sending this urgent aid to the Island. Algeria and Cuba brotherhood for more than 60 years. ????? Yesterday, today and always.

The aid “expresses Algeria’s solidarity with this country that has always supported us during the National Liberation Revolution and is also part of strengthening the ties of brotherhood and friendship between the two peoples,” added Hamlaoui, quoted by efe.
The cargo was sent by sea from the port of Algiers and consists of basic foods such as oil, sugar and other products. The Cuban ambassador in Algeria, Armando Vergara, thanked the gesture from his Twitter account.
“In the name @EmbaCuba_Algiers, our gratitude to sister Algeria, to its president, government, people and to the Algerian Red Crescent for sending this urgent aid to the Island. Algeria and Cuba brotherhood for more than 60 years. Yesterday, today and forever,” Vergara wrote.
During Miguel Díaz-Canel’s visit to Algeria Last November, President Tebboune announced the cancellation of outstanding interest on Cuba’s debt and the postponement of repayment “until further notice” as well as decided to offer a solar power plant to the South American country.
Algiers and Havana have maintained close ties since the North African country achieved its independence in 1962, and in particular thanks to its cooperation in the Non-Aligned Movement.
