Santo Domingo.- Upon assuming the presidency of the Chamber of Deputies for the fifth consecutive term and carrying out the swearing-in of members, Alfredo Pacheco He highlighted the challenges that the Lower House will face in this Second Ordinary Legislature of 2024.
He said that the Dominican Republic hopes and needs to be able to work on projects from now on that govern new trends and ways of life and that continue to provide the country with the laws necessary for progress and advances in democratic institutions.
“The challenges are great and there is no time to lose. Our voters and the country demand a high dose of consideration, common sense and consensus to learn about, investigate, debate and agree on the projects that the nation needs to continue on the path towards our full development,” he said.

Pacheco said that they will immediately begin to prepare to review different bills such as the water law, the general sports law, the civil procedure bill and the bill on citizen participation.
Likewise, the draft law on public procurement, the one on administrative litigation jurisdiction, the draft law on rentals, a law on cybersecurity, one on energy efficiency and another on the regulation of renewable energies.
“We will also continue to seek the necessary consensus for the approval of the new civil code of the Dominican Republic and the law on oversight and control,” he said.
