Santo Domingo. – The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pachecoexpressed his support for the president’s decision Luis Abinader to fully activate the Bilateral Maritime and Air Interdiction Agreement, an international instrument in force since 1993 that allows strengthening joint actions with the United States to combat drug trafficking.
Pacheco highlighted that this measure constitutes a firm step to confront air traffic and maritime drug trafficking, a scourge that affects children, young people and families throughout the national territory.
“The strengthening of this agreement allows the Dominican State protect your airspace more effectively and its territorial waters against illicit incursions. “It is a necessary and timely action to guarantee the security of the country,” he said.
The president of the Chamber of Deputies highlighted that the fight against drug trafficking requires coordinationinternational cooperation and clear decisions that strengthen the country’s capacity to confront transnational criminal networks.
“I value this measure because it directly contributes to the protection of our people and the strengthening of national security. It is a step in the right direction,” he concluded.
