Cuban Alfredo Despaigne today extended his contract in the Japanese Professional Baseball League, with the Softbank Falcons, for one year, through the signing of an agreement between both parties.
After the signing, Despaigne, one of the best players in Cuba in the last decade, expressed his satisfaction at maintaining his career in the so-called land of the Rising Sun, where he stressed there is great quality.
He also spoke about the challenge that will lie ahead this year, with a franchise that dominated the main professional competition in that country for three consecutive tournaments (2017-2020) and then was eliminated in 2021.
The 35-year-old player also expressed his desire to once again represent his province, Granma, in the Cuban Baseball League, in addition to taking part with his country’s team in international events.
In addition to Despaigne, this Tuesday pitcher Liván Moinelo and third baseman Yurisbel Gracial also renewed their respective contracts, both also with the Softbank Halcones.
